a5c7b9f00b In the year 2258, it is ten years after the Earth-Minbari War. Commander Sinclair takes command of a giant five-mile-long cylindrical space station, orbiting a planet in neutral space. At a crossroads of interstellar commerce and diplomacy, Cmdr Sinclair (2d season Captain Sheridan) must try to establish peace and prosperity between various interstellar empires, all the while fighting forces from within the Earth Alliance. It is a precarious command, particularly given that sabotage led to the destruction of Babylon stations 1, 2, and 3 and 4 vanished without trace. In the mid 23rd Century, the Earth Alliance space station Babylon 5, located in neutral territory, is a major focal point for political intrigue, racial tensions and various wars over the course of five years. I have watched a lot of scifi shows over the years. I've seen Farscape all seasons and movies. I've seen every star trek series and season ever made including movies. The point is that after seeing all these different scifi series and seasons the absolute best scifi show I've seen is Babylon 5. I cannot think of a TV series that can evokemuch emotion out of the viewerBabylon 5. It is so intelligently written, so well acted, I cannot think how many times I was moved to tears and cheered at the result of an outcome. The casting really did a great job casting the right people in there roles. It's rare on TV to see actors this well spoken and emotional/dramatic in there roles. This show's acting, the deep story, the writing is simply brilliant! This isgoodit gets and even today in 2011, the specicial effects aren't all that bad and doesn't take away from the experience. If you are new to Babylon 5 start with season 1 and work your way up. I will admit it starts out a little slow but by mid season 2 through end of season 4 is breathtaking, edge of your seat entertainment. If there is one word to describe Babylon 5 it would be….EPIC!!! This series was brilliant. If you watch the entire thing, you'll see how J. Michael Straczynski had this thing mapped out in his mind. The continuity of this series is positively amazing. Things would happen in season 1 that wouldn't make sense until you saw how it happened in season 3. The whole series had tremendous acting, great scripting, and a genius at the helm. The fifth season wasn't quite on par with the rest, but it was still ok. It was so well thought out, so well planned, and with a Sci-Fi hook that can grab the attention of the average viewer. It has the themes of mythology, guidance, and during the shadow war, the idea of a parent stepping aside and allowing the child to grow. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
